Biography
The Duo
The Duo Ariarathes was founded in 2018 by Nika Afazel (Klavier) and Jakob Mitterer (Violoncello) during their time in the studio of Itamar Golan at the Paris Conservatory. Building on this strong foundation the duo gathered further experiences at Vienna's Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst as well as Cologne's Hochschule für Musik und Tanz.
From then on, Duo Ariarathes performed in many European countries, appeared at festivals such as the Südtirol Festival Merano and the Festival Dolomites and collaborated with different artists including members of the Vienna and the Munich philharmonic orchestra.
Furthermore, the musicians of Duo Ariarathes were granted several scholarships ranging from statal grants to private funds which allowed the duo to produce video and audio recordings.
